How Stay-at-home Advisories Affect Us

Many of our clients have asked us recently how the new stay-at-home advisory affects us. As Realtors®, the work we do is considered an "essential service" in Illinois. Please know that even though it is not business as usual, we are still very busy helping people buy and sell homes right now in and around Chicago. We follow many precautions you should know about.

For our sellers, we are not advising doing in-person open houses. Instead, we are offering several online alternatives. We have been shooting more videos and doing virtual tours. When doing showings we insist potential buyers wear masks, apply hand sanitizer before entering, and touch as little as possible. We will open doors, drawers and cabinets when asked. We limit the number of people at a showing to 3. We sanitize doorknobs when we leave. And if our sellers agree, we only show homes to serious, pre-approved buyers.

For our buyers, we do not drive in the same car from showing to showing. We do not ride in elevators with more than 3 people. We all wear masks and sanitize our hands before and after every showing. We are often asked to sign covid disclosure forms ahead of time. And we have found that all of our buyers appreciate the extra care that we are taking.

All this is to say that if you are thinking of buying or selling a home in the near future, we will do everything we can to make that happen. If you have any thoughts or questions about any of this, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. For sheltering in place, we want to make sure that place is somewhere you love!
